Ways to train your mind to increase performance in your life

Ways to train your mind to increase performance in your life

1- WHY TRAIN THE MIND?
You will have asked yourself this question many times and the answer is not at all obvious. In fact, each of us exercises our mind every day; we pursue our goals and try to make the best use of the brain. The results we get are variable and dependent on different factors.
Science has long confirmed the extraordinary brain resources, but in the face of this potential we have difficulty in using them.
"Our brain is by far the most wonderful software in existence, but unfortunately we do not have the relative instruction booklet".

This is why we are forced to proceed by trial and error, wasting time and precious energy. The solution is to stimulate mental activity.
In fact, the brain performs very different functions between them; from fluid intelligence, which presides over the resolution of logical and reasoning problems, to memory. We must learn to use the possibilities that the mind makes available to us.
To do this, both the left and right hemisphere must be stimulated in a targeted manner, laying the foundations for their balanced functioning. In this way we will be able to improve the plasticity of the mind, strengthening it; we do not know the ultimate limits of improvement. We learn to train our mind and use it to achieve our goals.
In this way we will be able to learn foreign languages, keep up-to-date on the topics that interest us and optimize any learning need in a short time.
We will improve the efficiency of the mind and this will be the best prevention antidote against degenerative diseases, such as Senile Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. A healthy mind is synonymous with psycho-physical well-being.

2- HOW TO TRAIN AND MAKE YOUR MIND
First and foremost it is necessary to learn to concentrate, as concentration is the key to accessing the mind.
We are used to considering concentration as a state of psycho-physical tension. And instead the opposite is true.
It all starts with effective physical relaxation. Body and mind are intimately connected; relaxing the body means achieving immediate benefits also on the mind.
An excellent exercise is to relax and relax all our muscles, bringing attention to the breath. After about a minute, we'll turn our attention to the heartbeat. Let's listen to it and imagine our heart pumping blood; from the heart to the fingers and toes. We feel a pleasant sensation of warmth that pervades our whole body. We remain in this state for a few minutes. Then slowly we open our eyes and calmly resume our movements. The key to relaxation of the body lies in focusing on physical sensations. This ability will increase more and more with practice. As a result, the mind will become free from the flow of thoughts, which often cause problems.

Concentrating will allow us to direct attention to what is priority, eliminating all possible distractions. We know very well, how difficult it is to maintain concentration for long periods of time, during the study or any activity we have to perform. The proposed exercise will be of great help to us in this process. Physical and mental relaxation is simple, but it is not easy. Often, especially during the first sessions, after a few minutes the thoughts start to wander and move us away from the perception of the physical sensations we are feeling. In this case, we will have to count mentally with each exhalation. We can count from 1 to 10 and then from 10 to 1. This exercise will give us concrete benefits. When you relax, the mind becomes calmer, the attention is stronger and lasting. Now let's look at the next steps to enhance our brain capacity.

3- STRATEGIES TO ENHANCE THE MIND
The most effective strategies, able to optimize our mental performances, are based on some fundamental principles.
Let's see the main ones:
Mental visualization
Stimulation of the 5 senses through the imagination
Unusual use of sight
Emotional involvement
By mental visualization, I mean the ability to think in images. Concepts, phrases, numbers, faces and images of various kinds must always be clearly perceived through the mind's eye.
Visualizing in this way, constitutes the cornerstone, which allows to harmonize the functioning of the two hemispheres. The left hemisphere presides over the logical-deductive and reasoning functions, while the right is responsible for creativity, imagination, imagination and memory.
Mentally visualizing means activating and enhancing all these abilities. In addition to sight, it is also necessary to use the remaining 4 senses: hearing, touch, smell and taste. They can be trained effectively, imagining noises, tactile sensations, smells and tastes.

Changing perspective in the perception of images, allows to activate with greater intensity, the right hemisphere, often silent in the learning processes. Creating mental representations with a high emotional involvement will improve the habit of actively interacting with any type of information.
When the brain is so active in receiving and processing information, the results grow exponentially.
Now let's see how to apply these strategies to enhance our brain:

1.       tips train the mind Imagine a common life scene, such as a dinner, and view food and drink in detail. Also, try to perceive flavors and smells, touch the food and listen to the noise produced by the cutlery.
2.       Try to recognize objects with closed eyes, touching them with your hands. This method drives the mind to make comparisons and analogies, starting from your previous experiences, stored in the long-term memory, creating a strong emotional involvement.
3.       Perform simple mental operations, which will increase your power of concentration and attention; the brain will learn to keep itself in this condition for longer and longer periods of time, without any effort.
4.       Look at objects and drawings in reverse. This strategy creates new relationships and exchanges between the two cerebral hemispheres, engaged in characterizing unusual situations.
5.       Try to perceive tastes and smells with your eyes closed. The sense of taste and smell, although not as detailed as sight, is very powerful and can effectively stimulate memory. From the neurological point of view, taste and smell, they are located in the oldest and "primitive" area of the nervous system. It is largely adjacent to the hippocampus, which plays a fundamental role in storing information and emotions.
6.       Imagine using an object in a completely different context than usual. Try to think, for example, how you could use an office paper clip, in the kitchen, in the bathroom etc ...
7.       Perform recordings at maximum speed, with words, 6-digit numbers, images ...
8.       Read as quickly as you can, gradually larger portions of text, trying to grasp the meaning of the sentences.
9.       Remember facts, events, people and circumstances of your past. This will allow you to activate your mind completely; they will be strongly stimulated, concentration, creativity and different areas of memory.
10.   Write using the non-dominant hand. You will be able to train your concentration and intensely stimulate the synaptic activity. Writing, in fact, involves numerous brain areas, from those of language to motor ones, which control the movement of the fingers.

4- TRAIN THE MIND TO THE STUDY
Training our brains daily can be the extra weapon in the studio.
Let's see together some exercises to train the mind to the study taken from my book "Train your mind in 5 minutes"

In this exercise you must identify the number 1970157, which appears only once inside the grid and could be positioned horizontally, from right to left or vice versa, vertically, from top to bottom or vice versa or diagonally. As you can see the numbers are very similar in order to put you in difficulty.
It might make your job easier not looking for the whole number, but finding a group of easily recognizable numbers.
The thing that will help you make your mind even more agile is to give yourself a maximum time, in this case four minutes.
